What is
Hair Removal Treatment?
No one loves to be hairy in all the wrong places, isn’t it? The freedom that you get by undergoing permanent underarm hair removal that lets you wear all your favorite clothes without thinking twice is priceless! Well, that’s what makes laser hair removal a very sought-after and popular cosmetic treatment across the world.
This procedure uses heat from laser devices to eliminate unwanted hair on various body parts and prevent them from regrowing. Most people require at least six sessions spread over a few months to get rid of hair on their arms, legs, armpits, bikini line and abdomen.

How its works
How Does the Procedure Work?
Laser hair removal uses a laser to target the hair follicles in the skin.
The heat generated by the laser destroys the hair follicles and prevents them from growing any hair in the future.
Our hair follows a growth cycle during which it goes through the following stages:
- Resting
- Shedding
- Growing
Hair in the resting stage is usually not visible to a technician or your doctor, and they will wait for this hair to grow and remove it in the subsequent sessions
For this reason, a laser hair removal procedure takes at least two to three months to complete.
When a laser is applied to hair on the skin, the follicles absorb the light, which is attracted to the melanin pigment in your hair, causing your hair to vaporize. For this reason, darker hair absorbs laser light better.

Who Needs Laser Hair Removal?
Any adult who wishes to permanently get rid of unwanted hair anywhere on the body is a candidate for laser hair removal.
Since the melanin pigment in the hair attracts the light from the laser more effectively, people with light skin and darker hair are the ideal candidates for laser hair removal procedures.
People having darker skin require a particular type of laser that enables the detection of hair against their skin.
People with light-coloured hair may not see exceptional results as it is difficult for the laser to focus on their less-pigmented hair. So, laser hair removal is not very effective on people with blond, grey or white hair.
Your dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon will clinically evaluate your skin laxity and take a thorough medical history to determine the best possible treatment alternative. The Laser Hair Removal can be used for several parts of the body, including:
Newer, more advanced lasers are being developed to overcome these challenges of existing lasers and make this treatment available for people of all hair and skin colours
How it works
Soprano Ice Titanium Laser Machine
At Hortman Clinics, we use the state-of-the-art Soprano Titanium laser machine for virtually painless hair removal procedures.
It is the most recent advancement in laser hair removal technology, combining the three most effective laser wavelengths into a single applicator.
This means that the laser will cause damage to the hair at three different depths of the follicle at the same time. With an exceptionally large spot size, the Soprano makes treatment quicker and improves the patient experience.
The machine is a crowd favorite due to its ICE Plus contact cooling technology that constantly cools the skin during the laser treatment, making patients extremely comfortable throughout their treatment.
Preparation
How Can You Prepare for Your Appointment?
Before you come for your laser hair removal appointment, your doctor will ask you to follow a few preparatory instructions to enhance your results and minimize the risks of side effects.
Here are preparatory instructions for your laser hair removal session:
- Do not go out in the sun for a few days before the procedure, as this treatment cannot be performed on tanned skin.
- Avoid activities that can irritate the skin.
- Do not wax or pluck hair before the scheduled procedure, as it interferes with your hair growth cycle.
- Avoid taking anticoagulants or other anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin. Speak with your physician before stopping any prescription drug.
- Postpone your laser hair removal appointment if you develop a bacterial skin infection or a flare-up of any dry skin condition like eczema or psoriasis.
- People with darker skin tones may need to undergo a bleaching procedure to lighten their skin tone in the treatment area.

What to expect
Expectations / Results after Treatment
The recovery time after a laser hair removal procedure is minimal, and you can return to your daily activities almost immediately. Remember to wear sunscreen before and after your treatment to avoid irritation.
You will see a reduction in hair on the treated area almost immediately. However, you may require at least five to eight laser hair removal sessions for complete hair removal as your hair follicles take some time to respond to the laser treatment.
The hair removal using laser treatment is almost permanent as the laser kills the hair follicles in the targeted area. If the laser only damages the follicle but does not kill it, you may see hair regrow once the follicle heals.
The results of laser hair removal depend upon several factors, such as the type of hair, type of laser used, and the skill of your dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon.
